Maori Language Week

Kia Ora!
It was Maori language week.  To celebrate and gain more Reo we learnt some new songs to sing and words to korero.  One of our favourite waiata is Mahunga Pakihewi.  Listen and sing along.

Back to School

We are really enjoying having so much space in our new room.  During our first week back we learnt where everything was and we labelled our new learning areas.

Greedy Cat
Greedy Cat was our shared book of the week.  We enjoyed reading about how naughty Greedy Cat was.  He kept eating the food out of the shopping bag - even sticky buns.  We decided to make some sticky buns and they were very delicous and very sticky!

On the Move

We have moved!!! B1 has shifted across to the newly finished B block into a lovely big room.  Our old room looked very empty after we moved out.  There was lots of stuff to take across but thanks to our lovely support staff and ex students it didn't take very long.  During the holidays everything will be organised so that we will be ready to start on the first day back.  Happy holidays everyone!

Hedgehog Fun

Fruit Kebabs

This week we were reading a  book called Hedgehog Fun.  The "Hedgehog" was really fruit and marshmallow kebabs stuck into an orange.  The book told us how to make them so we had to follow instructions.  It was important to follow the sequence so that our kebabs looked the same as the ones in the book.  Of course the best part was eating them!

The Safe Place

The Eggs

We read a story called The Safe Place.  It was about a little hen who searched for a safe place to lay her eggs.  One Friday everyone was given an egg to care for.  It was hard work!!!  Some of the eggs got broken so we had to think carefully about how to hold the eggs and where to put  them.  We made nests and found special places to keep our eggs safe.  We had lots of fun looking after our eggs.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk is one of our favourite fairy tales.  We decided to make some masks and to create our own Jack and the Beanstalk play.  Paultana was Jack and he had to pretend to steal the gold and chop down the beanstalk.

Monarch Butterfly

We have had an exciting day because all the Monarch butterflies emerged from their chrysalis.  In the afternoon we put them outside so they could fly away.
